Holiday Decorating on a Budget
Last month, Mike Holmes shared a few Holiday tips on how extend the season for you and your loved ones. With this being our favorite time of year, we thought we’d continue the holiday spirit and share a few DIY ideas to liven up your home.
A garland is a fun way to decorate your home, from trimming your doorway, your railings or fireplace. Regardless if you use fresh or artificial greens, it’s a beautiful way to add a natural element to your home. Look outdoors for pine cones and branches to add to your existing garland to help fill gaps and make it look fuller – and it’s free! Bonus tip: To help your live greens last longer, spray some Concrobium Mold Control on them. A light mist goes a long way.
If you’re looking for DIY Holiday scents, Pinterest is a fantastic place to explore. Here is one homemade stove top recipe we found our family enjoys, which we think our customers will love too!
1 cup cranberries
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1-3 sprigs of rosemary
3 cinnamon sticks
INSTRUCTIONS Ten minutes before your guests arrive or when you want your house to smell good, slice the orange and place the ingredients in a pot and add 2 cups of water. Heat over low heat, adding water when necessary. Don’t let the water get low and make sure to keep an eye on your pot when on a hot stove.
Last but not least, let’s update your gift wrapping. Forget the traditional bows and try using herbs like rosemary, lavender, or mint leaves and pine cones to “garnish” your presents. Not only will they look pretty but they’ll smell great too! Bonus tip: When your gifts are all under the tree, remember to place a Concrobium Moisture Grabbers pouch in your wrapping paper/accessories storage bin to help reduce moisture damage.
